After passion for seeing the Shames go down made him throw the rules out the window and got him fired from his police position, Barrett became obsessed with the gang and with setting the record straight…as well as with getting Fray to notice him and perhaps even engage in a passionate and doomed romance. (She ignores him as thoroughly as she can.) It’s his personal, righteous mission to bring the Damn Shames to justice.
